We make the accessories we wanted for our own family / Hacemos los accesorios que siempre quisimos para nuestra familia

Furry love

We understand that they are among the most important beings in your life. They are your family, your friends, and your joy. We know because that’s how we feel about ours. You want them to be comfortable, to be safe, happy and, although admittedly on a shallower note, you want them to look their best.

Soft but tough

That is what we strive to achieve with our products. Our dog collars feel soft against their skin because we only use 100% cotton fabrics on the outer layer, with interlining and webbing inside to make them sturdy, and sewn with triple seams for reinforcement. To ensure safety, we always use the best hardware in the market. Our cat collars, on the other hand, will come loose before compromising their wellbeing when they are playing around, thanks to the breakaway buckles we use. We make the accessories we wanted for our own family.

An interspecies family business

Wakakán is a two humans, one dog and three cats operation. (Sometimes there are two birds and a reptile involved, but that’s a story for another day.) Sara is the creative force behind this enterprise, and I (Ricardo) see to the tech side and day-to-day operations of the business. Runa, Anselmo, Boutros and Morgan do product testing and let us know when it’s time to take a break. Should you find any hairs in your recent purchase, it’s their fault. They promise to be more careful next time.

Where we come from

Way back in the year 2013 we were publishing a magazine, which was distributed free and aimed to promote animal adoptions in the province of Alicante, where we live. Times were tough and the magazine was struggling financially. As a means to help our magazine, Sara, who has always been good with her hands, started designing the first collars, leashes and cat toys to sell online and at animal related events we got invited to. Little by little, orders started coming in. Unfortunately we were unable to save our publication, but instead we found something that we love doing, and that our customers love as well, and it grew from there…

Amor peludo
